Magdalene Kemlein, born in Dresden in 1930, completed a degree in school music at the College of Music in Weimar from 1949 - 1958. Apart from her post-graduate and doctorate course at the universities of Halle and Berlin with the promotion in 1957 as a Dr. paed., she taught song play, improvisation, choral management and rhythm in Weimar till 1958.
In leading function at the district school of music in Bautzen from 1958 to 1995, Mrs. Kemlein taught piano, improvisation, theory and aural education and directed children's choirs.
The girls’ chamber choir of the music school founded in 1967, with an active concert activity at home and abroad, was headed by her until 1997.
Numerous adaptations of German, Sorbian and international folk and children’s songs belong to her musical accomplishments.
