Glöckner, Gottfried (*1937) Germany

Helga Glöckner, born in Oberfrohna near Chemnitz, studied at the college for librarians “Erich Weinert” Leipzig from 1955 to 1958. From 1959 to 1964, she completed Slavonic and German studies at the Karl Marx University Leipzig. After that, she was active as an author in literature clubs and the work group “Junger Autoren” (“Young authors”). Helga Glöckner-Neubert became a member of the pen club, an association of authors in the GDR. Her work mainly comprises lyrics for children and adults’ choirs.
Gottfried Glöckner and Helga Glöckner-Neubert work together as a good team on the subject of choir music, especially children’s songs. Many of their songs emerged victorious at the children’s song festivals in Rostock and Halle. The assignment of the Boys’ Choir of Poznan for the cantata “Seid den Kindern zugetan” (Be devoted to children), which was premiered in 1981 in Frankfurt/Oder, was the highlight of their work so far.
