Carl Türk was born in Friesenhausen near Meiningen in 1866 and, after completing his professional education, was employed as a teacher in Coburg. He developed his musical talent by attending courses, among others with the ducal court music director and composer August Langert.
From 1894 to 1913, Türk was the musical director of the Sängerkranz Coburg, from 1899 he was active in the music committee of the „Fränkischer Sängerbund“, a choral association and acted as a juror in countless singing competitions. In 1881 he emerged as the winner among 100 participants in a clay poetry competition. Carl Türk died in Coburg in 1945.
Famous and often sung was his song „Wie könnt ich dein vergessen” op. 14, based on words by Hoffmann von Fallersleben.
