Furgeri, Biancamaria (*1935) Italy
Bianca Maria Furgeri was born in Rovigo on October 6
th, 1935. She is a pianist, organist, choir director and composer. As early as in 1942, she began a piano and composition training, which was followed by organ studies. Her teachers were, among others, Coltro Bruno (choral music, harmonics, counterpoint, fugue and choral conducting and Giorgio Federico Ghedini, and Bruno Bettinelli (composition). After graduating, she taught as a composer of music theory at the Conservatoire "Girolamo Frescobaldi" in Ferrara from 1962 to 1969. From 1969 to 1997, she held the chair of harmonics and counterpoint at the Conservatoire "Giovan Battista Martini," Bologna.
Bianca Maria Furgeris’s compositions have received numerous national and international awards and have been broadcast by several European radio stations. In 2002, her work "Rosa Roxana" was performed in St. Peter's Basilica (Vatican), in the presence of Pope John Paul II.
