Jürgen Golle was born in Zwickau on November 4th, 1942. From 1954 to 1958 he was a member of the St. Thomas Choir in Leipzig. From 1962 to 1966 he studied the subjects music and German at the Pedagogical Institute Zwickau and from 1965 to 1969 he enrolled at the Leipzig Conservatoire where he was a student of Wilhelm Weismann’s composition class. Since 1967 he has been employed at the Pedagogical University in Zwickau – now Chemnitz University of Technology - in the subjects of music theory and compositional technique. In 1984 he began his activity as a lecturer and in 1993 he was appointed professor. His composition list comprises instrumental, vocal and orchestral music. So far, especially Jürgen Golle’s choral compositions have gained wide currency.
