Thomas Risch was born on the 4th of November in 1979 in Karl-Marx-Stadt. (now Chemnitz). At the end of his schooltime at the Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Gymnasium, he was a member of the school’s choir under the direction of Ruth Winkler. As an autodidact he learnt to play the guitar. In 1999 he began Mechanical Engineering Studies at the University of Technology in Chemnitz and became a member of the “Traditionschor Chemnitzer Abiturienten e.V” (tradition choir of high school-graduates Chemnitz, registered society) under the direction of Wolfgang Richter, which was renamed Kammerchor Chemnitz e.V.“ (Chamber Choir Chemnitz, registered society) in 2004. During this period, Risch’s passion for music began to grow. As a consequence, he published his first attempts of arrangements although he had never been musically educated. Since 2005, Thomas Risch has been an academic assistant and docent at the faculty of engineering of the University of Technology in Chemnitz.
